macOS

  1. Download the build for your Mac. Apple menu → About This Mac shows whether you have an Apple chip or an Intel processor.
  2. Unzip the download and move OrbitalNote.app into Applications.
  3. Open the app. These previews are ad-hoc signed, not Apple-notarized. If macOS blocks the first launch, check System Settings → Privacy & Security for the option to open the app you just downloaded.

Use the official release links. You do not need to disable Gatekeeper or change system-wide security settings.

Windows and Linux

Windows

Extract the ZIP and open OrbitalNote.exe. Microsoft WebView2 is required. The preview is not Authenticode-signed, so Windows may display a SmartScreen prompt.

Linux

Extract the archive and run orbitalnote. On an Ubuntu 24.04-compatible system, install the runtime libraries if needed:

sudo apt install libgtk-4-1 libwebkitgtk-6.0-4

Linux desktop packaging is still evolving. If a dependency is missing, include your distribution and the error when asking for help.

Android

Download the ARM64 APK and open it. Android may ask you to allow installation from your browser or file manager. The app opens with a private notebook; recent previews can also link an existing device folder.

Install updates over the existing app. Uninstalling deletes the private notebook. Back up or sync notes you want to keep first. See storage choices.

Updates and release notes

Download the new release and replace the installed app. Automatic app updates are not available yet. Your desktop workspace remains in its own folder; keep it outside the application bundle.

The release page includes release notes, assets, and SHA-256 checksums. Keep devices on comparable recent versions when using Sync and shared settings.
